Teach

We are always looking for new courses and instructors. If you have an idea for a class, lecture, or workshop, please download the instructor proposal form below and mail, e-mail, or fax us your completed proposal.

We run four terms each year and we generally plan about 3 months in advance. The fall term runs from September - November, the winter term from December - February, the spring term from March - May, and the summer term from June - August. Classes meet for as few as one or as many as sixteen sessions.

Class Proposal Deadlines:
Fall term - June 1
Winter term - September 1
Spring term - December 1
Summer term - March 1

Final decisions regarding instructor proposals will be made no later than the following month.

Please email us if you have any questions.

We appreciate your interest in working with FHTC Business & Industry Training Center.

Volunteer

Volunteers are the backbone of the Community Connections program at FHTC Business & Industry Training Center. New volunteers are needed. We would like to broaden our base, so that we better represent the diverse backgrounds and interests of the FHTC community.

While many of our FHTC volunteers have flexible daytime schedules, a full-time job doesn't rule out volunteer involvement. There are opportunities to work as part of a committee. There are also many jobs that can be done from your home or office.

The key areas of involvement are as follows:

  • Curriculum: networking with people in the community, thinking up ideas for new courses, tracking down leads for new instructors, and putting courses together.
  • Office: answering phones, processing registrations, doing data entry, helping with mailings, or being a Community Connections Ambassador
  • Publicity: writing press releases, designing flyers and advertisements, disseminating information for calendar sections of local magazines and newspapers.
  • Marketing: assessing community needs and interests, networking with other community groups, identifying the public image of Community Connections, targeting catalogs and publicity.
  • Hospitality: coordinating the annual faculty dinner, setting up booths at local events.
  • Catalog: writing and editing course descriptions, data entry, layout, proofreading.
  • Board: administration & finance, long-range planning, coordination with other community efforts, and all of the above.

We'd love to welcome you to the FHTC Community Connections team. Send us an email if you'd like to help out in one of the above areas.
